Elaine Becker - Teacher/Librarian

Life is short

I was born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana...home of the Hoosiers, and believe it or not - was told in 8th grade that I should become a librarian.   Not elated with that job prospect I decided to pursue environmental issues.  I graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor's of Science in Environmental Science and roamed the Midwest working at a variety of jobs.   Eventually I landed in beautiful Blanchardville and made it home.    When I first began working at the school I was fortunate to work in the Early Childhood room with Carol Gruner, Shelly Leonard and Murt Gruenenfelder.   That's where I learned many wonderful skills as an early educator.  Later, I became the library aide, eventually earning my teaching certification in Early Childhood/Special Education.   Currently I'm continuing my education through the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee to earn a Master's in Library and Information Science.

My family consists of husband, Bob, three wonderful kids; Aidan, Lauren and Annika, Sitka the dog, Moby the cat, and 5 chickens.  I enjoy reading, watching movies, sunshine, prairie restoration, working in the dirt, and beekeeping.
