Dear Pecatonica Community,
On behalf of our entire staff and student body, I want to welcome you to Pecatonica Elementary School, located in beautiful Hollandale, Wisconsin, and not too far from our state's capital city. I feel very lucky to be part of such a selfless and committed group of people.
Here at Pecatonica, we want what is best for all children, and to help every child love learning. There are a number of teachers here who have spent the better part of their careers at our school, and the children, families, and community are in a better place because of that.
I, too, love learning. I've been doing it for many, many years. In fact, I love learning so much that I'm in my eighth year at UW-Madison, continuing to learn about the best ways I can support teachers and students, while using the assets of families and the community, too. I have an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education, with a minor in Political Science. I have also taken (and am continuing to take) graduate coursework in Curriculum and Instruction, ESL, and Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. I'm a former UW Marching Band member (have you heard of a flugelhorn?), and have studied abroad in Ghana (West Africa). I also spent time in Verona, Wisconsin, teaching the best grade there is! Do you know which one I'm talking about?
I think I speak for all of our staff in saying that we want Pecatonica to be the place that everyone else strives to be; a caring community that equips students to become productive and innovative learners, leaders, and citizens in our ever-changing global community.
If you ever should have questions, or ideas for our school and community, please don't hesitate to stop by or give us a call (608-523-4283). In my first year here, I'm excited to have landed in such a wonderful place.
Mr. Kyle Walsh
